Do I need anything else apart from my final high school certificate?

All you need are the final high school grade certificate and the IELTS Exam. For some specific courses you may be asked to have a final grade of X (X attributed by the University) on a certain subject.

Example: A student that is applying for a Microbiology Degree might be asked to finish high school with a certain grade in biology.

I still haven’t got a recommendation letter. Can any teacher write this letter?

Yes, any teacher may write this letter as long as the teacher as followed your academic progress for at least one year.

The letter of recommendation must be written in English or translated afterwards. A boss or higher level professional may also write the recommendation letter.

Should you need to translate these letters, OK Student can also provide this service, with the advantage of being at a price below that of other translators (30 € per page, if you are registered).

How can I apply for a University without the 12th grade?

Due to England’s revolutionary education system you can first apply for a foundation degree, which is year 0 of your course. This allows for students that do not have the appropriate qualifications, to have a chance to get the background needed for a good integration into the first year of the chosen course.

There is no limit of age and it is available for all students over 18 years old. The more mature and more professional experience you have, the better your chances are of being accepted.

I am in the 1st or 2nd year of my course. Should I cancel my current course or wait for a response first?

You should only take measure to stop your current course after you have had confirmation from England and not before. Continuing your current course will not have any effect on your application outcome.

If I am already studying at a University in my home country what do I have to do to finish my course in England?

There are two options:

Either you want a transfer from your current course into the second or third year of the same course in the UK or you want to start a new course or the same course from scratch.

For the first option we will need your current course’s module description to send it to the University, so that the institution can decide if your qualifications are sufficient to enter directly into the second or third year of the course.

In the second case, we apply you to the first year of the course of choice, but you have to bear in mind that the English government will may not subsidize the entire course. This is because the English government deducts one year of support for each year attended in your home country. In other words if you attended the first year of a course in your home country you might be deducted one year of financial support in the UK. This means that a student who is already attending the first year of a course in his home country will be deducted support for the first year in England, so he will be responsible for paying that year.

This applies only to EU students. For international students there will be no changes on the course fees independently if the student is transferring or starting from scratch.

Note: If the subjects that you have completed so far are not equivalent to the ones you would study in the UK you might have to be forced to start from the first year.

Does it help that I am in the first year of University in my home country?

Yes and no.

Yes, that helps a lot if you have already done one year in your home country and you simply want to transfer into the second year in the UK. This allows you, depending on whether or not you have completed all your modules, to get access into the second year.

No, because if you did not finish all your modules, if you want to register for a course in a completely different area, you will not be able to get funding for those years you have already studied in your home country.

What documents do I need as proof of my grades?

In case you are still finalizing your final year of high school education (all application should be submitted 6 to 12 months prior to the end of the course). You should submit a grade certificate from the previous year.

If you are already attending an University your high school grades are as important as your University grades, so we ask you to submit both of them.

All certificates should be translated and authenticated (OK Student offers this service at a charge of 30 € per document for regeistered students).
